NDRRMC: 1 killed, 6 injured in head-on collision in Leyte

At least one person was killed while six were injured after two vehicles figured in a head-on collision in Alang-Alang town in Leyte province Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday. In its 8 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 11:40 a.m. in Barangay Dapdap. Killed was Bryan Brigania, a passenger of a Mitsubishi L-300 vehicle (GDN-926) driven by Domingo Dadia, one of the six who were injured. Also injured were the driver and four passengers of a Toyota Hi-Ace (7C-4642) including driver Dario Bahinting; and passengers Romeo Mantanes, Martin Diaz, Rodolfo Calinga, and Jun Rapanan. The NDRRMC quoted witnesses as saying the Hi-Ace was heading for Ormoc City while the L-300 was heading for Tacloban City. Initial investigation showed the L-300 swerved to the opposite lane and hit the Hi-Ace head-on. The Office of Civil Defense is coordinating with Alang-Alang police in investigating the incident. — LBG, GMA News
