4 killed, 2 hurt in Batangas jeep crash


At least four people were killed while two were injured after a passenger jeep they were riding crashed in Talisay in Batangas province Wednesday. The incident occurred at Barangay Trangca where the jeep was negotiating a downward slope. The jeep's brakes then failed and the driver decided to crash the vehicle into a line of trees, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. According to information released by police investigators, two of the fatalities, Maria Hernandez and husband Prudencio, sustained severe head injuries. They died on the spot. Also killed were Carmencita Padilla and Teresita Sangalang, who were declared dead on arrival at the Reyes Hospital. The injured were initially identified as Kate Padilla, 7; and Hazel Ann Fajardo, 18. — DVM, GMA News
