1 of 4 suspected 'akyat-bahay' robbers killed in Laguna encounter

One of at least four suspected robbers was gunned down in an encounter with police in Laguna province before dawn Saturday.

 

The incident occurred at 1:20 a.m. in San Pedro, moments after the robbers broke into a house in Barangay San Antonio, radio dzBB reported.

 

An initial investigation showed two of the four men barged into the house and took the victim's mobile phone, then rode on two motorcycles driven by two other suspects.

 

Police set up a dragnet operation and chanced upon the four suspects.

 

The report quoted police as saying the suspects fired at them, prompting them to fire back and kill one of them.

 

The three managed to escape. Pursuit operations are ongoing against them.  — ELR, GMA News
