Barangay chairwoman wounded, two others killed in Cavite ambush

A barangay chairperson and her two companions were wounded while at least two others were killed after they were ambushed in Bacoor City in Cavite on Thursday night. The police are tracking down the motorcycle-riding men who fired at the party of barangay chairperson Cathy Palabrica, radio dzBB reported early on Friday. Palabrica and the other victims were aboard a vehicle en route to a campaign venue when they were attacked, the report said. The investigators are not discounting the possibility the attack was related to the coming May 13 elections. The dzBB report said Palabrica's husband Rey Palabrica is a city councilor and is a supporter of Mayor Edwin Bautista a.k.a. Strike Revilla. For now, police are gathering leads on the gunmen and the motive behind the ambush. - VVP, GMA News
