Bayron in, Hagedorn out in Puerto Princesa City mayoralty race

Incumbent vice-mayor Lucilo Bayron won the mayoralty race in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan, breaking the two-decade long reign of the Hagedorn family. Bayron, who is in his last term as vice-mayor, was proclaimed on Wednesday as Puerto Princesa City Mayor, but, as of this posting, the official tally of votes has yet to be made available. According to GMA’s Eleksyon 2013 partial unofficial count, representing 78.83 percent of total votes, Bayron lead the mayoral race with 34,230 votes against Ellen Hagedorn's 27,771 votes. Ellen Hagedorn is incumbent Mayor Edward Hagedorn’s wife. Edward Hagedorn, who is also running as a senator, has served as the city’s mayor for about 21 years, interrupted only by one year. He shared his wife's ill luck, placing in the 18th spot in the senatorial race – six notches below the ‘Magic 12’. Likewise, the senatorial aspirant’s nephew, Mark Hagedorn, failed to beat his opponent in the vice-mayoral race in Puerto Princesa City. Mark’s father, Douglas Hagedorn, is the only winning candidate in the family. He is leading in the Palawan Third District congressional race against five other opponents. — DVM, GMA News
