LRA official in Batangas shot dead

A Land Registration Authority (LRA) official was gunned down while his driver was injured in an ambush staged by armed men in Tagaytay City Tuesday afternoon.

In an interview with GMA News Online, Tagaytay City police chief Superintendent Danilo Buentipo initially identified the victim as lawyer Reynaldo Aquino.

Citing initial information, Buentipo said Aquino was killed while his driver sustained minor injuries in an ambush along Aguinaldo Highway near Magallanes Square.

Buentipo said four suspects have been arrested after the incident, but refused to release their names.

Police investigators are determining if the killing is connected with Aquino's work.

Aquino was the registrar of deeds in Lipa City in Batangas province, Buentipo said. — Amanda Fernandez/KBK, GMA News
