Militants disrupt Independence Day ceremony in Cavite
Militants briefly disrupted early Wednesday the ceremonies marking the country's 115th Independence Day in Kawit town in Cavite province.
At least 10 militants shouted "Huwad na kalayaan" before police arrested them, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported.
The militants made their move in front of the Aguinaldo Shrine, where administration Sen. Franklin Drilon was to deliver his speech.
Last year, militants in Kawit similarly disrupted then Transportation Secretary Manuel Roxas II's speech at Independence Day rites in Kawit. Roxas is presently Interior Secretary.
For this year, Cavite police had tightened security to prevent a repeat of last year's disruption.
In Bulacan, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. led Independence Day rites at the Barasoain Church, dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. —KG, GMA News
