16 alleged 'strippers' in custody after Laguna beer-house raid

At least 16 girls were taken into police custody after they were caught allegedly performing in a “bold” or stripper show in a beerhouse in Laguna province before dawn Sunday. The police said they had placed the Scorpion Club beerhouse in San Pedro under surveillance after receiving information about its activities, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported. Police are now tracking down the girls' floor manager initially identified only as Linda. The girls could not name the owner of the club. Investigators are also verifying the girls' ages to see if some of them were minors. While the women claimed they were aged 20 to 29, police said they are not discounting the possibility they were taught to lie about their age. Police authorities said the 16 girls tried to escape during the raid but were caught. A further record check also showed the girls had no working permit from the town government. — DVM, GMA News
