Two women abducted in Iligan City, rescued after 30 minutes
Two women were abducted in Iligan City Friday but were rescued within 30 minutes, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said Saturday.
Government troops also captured two men who abducted the women, according to a report on state-run Philippines News Agency.
Rescued 30 minutes after their abduction were Kathlyn Jane Dapol and Jingle Bation Rebosora, the PNA quoted the Army’s 1st Infantry Division spokesman Capt. Jefferson Somera as saying.
Somera also said the two suspected abductors - Mark Rebosora, 28, and Rogelio Bation, 60 - have been turned over to the police.
An initial investigation showed the two women were walking along the road in Barangay San Miguel when the suspects dragged them into a vehicle at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
The Army's 4th Mechanized Battalion under Lt. Col. Danilo Ibon set up checkpoints and intercepted the abductors' vehicle at 11 a.m. in Sitio Nunungan in Barangay Maria Cristina. — ELR, GMA News
