CAAP inspects Palawan airport, fields passengers' complaints

After facilitating the repair of the runway lighting system there, Philippine aviation authorities on Friday went to the Puerto Princesa International Airport in Palawan to receive the complaints of passengers there.

CAAP deputy director general John Andrews met with airport officials at the airport's VIP lounge after talking to some of the passengers, radio dzBB's Palawan affiliate James Viernes reported.

"We'd like to address the concerns of the passengers. Yung init, etc., gusto natin maayos yan (We want to address the concerns of the passengers, such as the heat. We want to fix those problems)," Andrews said.

The dzBB report said many of the complaints the CAAP team got had involved the lack of air-conditioning.

Earlier this week, the CAAP fast-tracked the repair of the airport's runway lighting system, allowing the resumption of takeoffs and landings at night.

CAAP moved to minimize the impact on tourist arrivals in Palawan, which had been limited when the lighting system was down and night landings and takeoffs were canceled.

The canceled flights had also resulted in the stranding of several passengers. — ELR, GMA News
