Red Cross: 50 families in Iloilo preemptively evacuated due to flooding
At least 50 families were preemptively evacuated Monday from some areas in Iloilo City due to flooding in the province, the Philippine Red Cross said.
"Preemptive evacuation (for) 50 families (was conducted) at Brgy. Calubihan, Jaro and Riparian properties," the Red Cross said on its Twitter account.
The Red Cross also said the bridge there is under construction, and the flooding there on Sunday morning coincided with the high tide in the area.
Also, the Red Cross said Barangay Sooc in Arevalo is a relocation site located in a flood plain beside the Iloilo River and has floods whose heights varied from ankle to hip level.

"(It) is regularly flooded with or without rains," it said.
The area is presently flooded "varying from ankle to hip level," the Red Cross said.
But it also said residents there are "used to this situation that most of their houses are on stilts and no evacuation is undertaken."
In the meantime, the Red Cross said its Iloilo chapter deployed a disaster response team Sunday to assess the area and assist in the evacuation. — RSJ, GMA News
