Tricycle driver killed in Bulacan shooting incident
A traffic altercation cost a tricycle driver his life on Sunday in San Miguel, Bulacan, police said.
"Walang ibang pinag-ugatan ito kundi ang naging alitan nila sa kalye gawa ng kanilang gitgitan sa trapiko," police chief superintendent Roginald Francisco said in Emil Sumangil's report on "Balitanghali."
Fernando Rapsin was on his way to Nueva Ecija on Sunday when his tricycle almost hit the suspect's motorcycle in a noontime traffic last Sunday, according to the report.
The suspect then drew his gun, forcing Rapsin to drive away from the suspect to a nearby gasoline station.
The suspect chased Rapsin and shot him as he drove inside the station, as shown by the footage of a CCTV camera installed near the area.
The suspect shot Rapsin at close range but the attacker ran out of bullets. Rapsin was already not moving at the time, the video showed.
The suspect fled to the highway. Until now, he remains at large.
The shooting incident shocked passers-by, including children, the report said.
The suspect is now included in the police's most wanted list, said Francisco.
"Masasabi nating propesyunal ang gawa ng tao, kaya napakadelikadong mamalagi at gagala sa kalye itong taong ito," the police chief said.
This is not the first time that a traffic altercation had led to shooting incidents in the country. Fugitive Jason Ivler, before he was captured by police operatives after a shootout in his house in 2010, shot dead a Palace undersecretary's son in traffic spat in Quezon City last November 2009.
Convict businessman Rolito Go, who was allegedly abducted inside New Bilibid Prison compound last year, was convicted for the killing of engineering student Eldon Maguan in 1991 in a traffic altercation in San Juan City.
Also, then police senior superintendent Teodorico Viduya, a Philippine Military Academy graduate, shot police chief inspector Rocky Victoria dead in October 1994, after the victim supposedly blocked Viduya's car at a food mart in Pasig City. — Marc Jayson Cayabyab /LBG, GMA News
