63 rescued as passenger vessel runs aground in Cebu
At least 63 passengers of a roll-on roll-off (RORO) vessel were rescued after the ship ran aground in Cebu Tuesday afternoon.
Super Shuttle Ferry 10 of Asian Marine Transport was about to head for Leyte from San Remigio in Cebu when the incident occurred, radio dzBB's Orchids Lapincao reported.
The vessel was carrying 63 passengers and 18 crewmembers at the time of the incident.
No one was hurt as all passengers and crew were evacuated from the vessel and are in good condition, the report said.
Initial investigation showed the vessel incurred little damage.
The Philippine Coast Guard is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Tuesday's incident came less than a week after the passenger vessel MV Saint Thomas Aquinas 1 sank after colliding with the cargo ship MV Sulpicio Express 7 last Friday.
At least 64 had been reported dead in Friday's incident as of Tuesday afternoon, the Coast Guard said. -- KBK, GMA News
