Minibus carrying students falls into ravine in Cebu, some injured

A minibus carrying some 30 students on a "Lakbay Aral" activity fell into a ravine in Cebu City Wednesday morning, injuring some of the passengers.

While no one was killed, some of the students reportedly suffered fractures, radio dzBB's Jasmine Baylosis reported.

The report said the incident occurred at Barangay Quiot Pardo in San Carlos Heights in Cebu City.

An initial investigation showed the passengers were mostly Grade 5 and 6 students from the Vicente Rama Elementary School.

The driver of the minibus claimed the brakes of the bus failed, causing him to lose control.

Investigation also showed that while there were no classes for the day as Wednesday is a nonworking day marking Ninoy Aquino Day, the students took part in an activity organized by the village. —KG, GMA News
