5-year-old girl raped in Zamboanga City evacuation center

A five-year-old girl was raped while inside an evacuation center in Zamboanga City, a television report on Friday said. The suspect is her 31-year-old uncle.

 

While sleeping in the Joaquin Enriquez Sports Complex, commonly called the Grandstand, her uncle awakened the young girl around 11 p.m. last Thursday, reported the Zamboanga City’s Women and Children's Protection Office.

 

The suspect took off the girl’s clothes and started to molest her, threatening to cut off her finger if she cried. During that time, the victim’s mother was washing their clothes, while her father was out smoking a cigarette.

 

When the parents got back to the family’s tent, the child told them she had been raped and detailed how her uncle had molested her.

 

The suspect is currently detained at the Zamboanga City Police Office facing statutory rape. – KDM, GMA News
