43 girls, including minors, rescued from Cebu nightclubs

At least 43 girls, some of them reportedly minors, were rescued following sting operations in two bars in Cebu City over the weekend.

 

Central Visayas anti-human trafficking operatives also arrested at least six suspected pimps in the operations, radio dzBB's Jasmin Vailoces reported Monday.

 

The entrapment operations stemmed from information received by authorities that the clubs were prostituting women and even minors.

 

Of the 43 workers rescued last weekend, at least 14 were reportedly minors, the report said.

 

Also taking part in the anti-trafficking operation were representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the International Justice Mission.

 

The rescued girls will be given stress debriefing, the report said. —KG, GMA News
