Pag-IBIG deploys roving offices in quake-hit areas

The Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) has allocated P4.5 billion for calamity loans for those affected by Tuesday's magnitude-7.2 quake, Vice President and housing czar Jejomar Binay said Thursday.

Binay urged residents affected by the quake to avail of such loans, which he said have a low 5.95-percent annual interest rate, payable in two years.

Pag-IBIG has deployed roving offices in the affected areas so it would be easier for members to seek assistance,” he added.

Binay visited Cebu and Bohol on Thursday. He urged members to use their benefits at Pag-IBIG.

“Yung mga biktima ng trahedyang ito, meron kayong pwedeng i-avail na calamity loan, personal loan at three-month moratorium," he said.

He added the Fund could help them get insurance if the houses they bought with their loans are covered by earthquake, typhoon and allied peril insurance.

Members may file their claim at the nearest Pag-IBIG branch, he added.

Also, Binay said the National Housing Authority will provide P5,000 worth of home materials for residents whose houses were damaged.

It will also resettle families whose homes were destroyed, he said.

Binay said he will discuss further with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama the possible locations for families who lost their homes.

Meanwhile, Binay instructed his office to extend relief assistance to the affected areas. — LBG, GMA News
