(Updated 4:01 p.m.) Amid the devastation brought by last week's magnitude-7.2 quake on Central Visayas, classes in public schools in Cebu province will be suspended until Nov. 3.

In a post on its social media account, the provincial government said the administrators of private schools will make their own announcement on the matter.

"Classes in Cebu province will resume on Nov. 4 for public schools. The respective administrators of the private schools will make the announcement for their schools, Dr. Arden Monisit, Schools Division Superintendent, DepEd Region 7," it said in a post on its Facebook account Sunday afternoon.

In Cebu City, Mayor Michael Rama made a similar announcement for public schools in the city, the Central Visayas unit of state-run Philippine Information Agency reported.

The PIA quoted Rama as saying classes in public schools in all levels in Cebu City are suspended until Nov. 3." https://twitter.com/PIACentralViz/status/391823151258021890).
