Tours in quake-hit Bohol to resume Thursday

In what could be an indication that Bohol is recovering from last week's deadly magnitude-7.2 quake in Central Visayas, some of the province's tourist attractions are to reopen Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Bohol unit of state-run Philippine Information Agency said the Loboc River cruise will open Oct. 24.

"Loboc River cruise will open on Oct. 24. Tour to include: tarsier habitat, Loboc River cruise (and) Chocolate Hills adventure park," it said.

Also, the PIA said "roads from Tagbilaran City to Carmen town via Corella are open to light vehicles, including cars and vans."

Bohol was hit hard by the Oct. 15 quake, with 182 out of the 195 fatalities as of Wednesday morning coming from the province.

Of the 651 reported injured by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, 557 were from Bohol.

However, the PIA also reported earlier that gas stations in the province are expected to reopen by the end of this week, while classes are to resume Nov. 5.
