1 killed as flash floods hit parts of Davao City
At least one person was reported killed in the wake of flash floods that hit parts of Davao City following a thunderstorm Thursday night.
The flash floods from two hours of heavy rain also caused heavy traffic in the city, radio dzBB's Raul Tolibas reported early Friday.
A resident initially identified as Gil Arcena, 57, was killed after a wall near his house collapsed, the report said.
Some 39 families were evacuated from their homes, the report added.
On Thursday night, the Davao City government said many areas were flooded and rescue groups had been dispatched.
It said the flooded areas included:
- La Verna Subdivision
- Marla's Compound Area
- Roseville Phase 1 & 2
- San Miguel Panacan
- portion of Tigatto.
- Marla's Compound Area
- Roseville Phase 1 & 2
- San Miguel Panacan
- portion of Tigatto.
Traffic also built up especially at La Verna, Diversion Road area, it added. — LBG, GMA News
