‘Tacloban is now accessible by land’ – Palace exec

As sunshine filtered into Tacloban, Leyte two days after the devastating Super Typhoon Yolanda, the government on Sunday announced that the city hardest hit by the wind and rains is now accessible by land.

“Tacloban is now accessible from the road from Luzon,” Cabinet Secretary Rene Almendras said in a press conference.

“Please let people know that they can now go into Tacloban from the north. San Juanico bridge is now open po,” Almendras said, addressing the media present at the briefing.

Almendras also revealed that the government will soon be in talks with bus companies and operators to facilitate travel out of Tacloban, for residents who may wish to leave the province temporarily. – Patricia Densie Chiu / KDM, GMA News
