9 farmers on hunger strike rushed to QC hospital

At least nine activist-farmers from Negros Occidental were rushed to the hospital on Tuesday night after days into hunger strike in front of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) office in Quezon City. The nine members of the militant Task Force Mapalad (TFM) were taken to the East Avenue Medical Center, dzBB radio quoted protest leaders as saying. DzBB reported that doctors said Godofredo Sillarin, one of the farmers, could suffer from paralysis if he does not stop going on hunger strike. At least 18 TFM farmers started their hunger strike on February 22. The farmers vowed to continue their protest until the government installs them on portions of the province's Hacienda Velez Malaga at Robles village, in La Castellana. -GMANews.TV
