Seven dioceses in the Philippines have no bishops
Seven dioceses in the Philippines lack bishops, Church records show.
The Kidapawan diocese was recently vacated after Pope Francis appointed Bishop Romulo dela Cruz Archbishop of Zamboanga on March 15. The Zamboanga archdiocese had been without a bishop since Bishop Romulo Valles was transferred to the Archdiocese of Davao in February 2012.
Meanwhile, the dioceses of Alaminos, Boac and Gumaca have been vacant since 2013.
Alaminos Bishop Marlo Peralta was appointed Archbishop of Nueva Segovia (Ilocos Sur) while Boac Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista was transferred to the Diocese of Imus (Cavite) and Gumaca Bishop Buenaventura Famadico was named Bishop of San Pablo (Laguna).
The Caloocan diocese has also remained vacant since Bishop Deogracias Iniguez resigned from his post.
Meanwhile, the Apostolic Vicariate of Bontoc-Lagawe and the Prelature of Infanta became vacant in 2012 after Bishop Rodolfo Beltran was sent to the Diocese of San Fernando (La Union) and Bishop Rolando Tirona was transferred to the Archdiocese of Caceres (Camarines Sur). — JDS, GMA News
