1k houses razed in 6-hour Davao fire
(Updated 10:20 a.m.) At least 2,000 families were rendered homeless and 1,000 houses razed in a six-hour fire that hit a residential area in Davao City Friday night.
The fire at Isla Verde Boulevard started at Purok 4 past 7 p.m., according to a report on GMA News TV's "News TV Live."
It cited investigators who said the fire may have stemmed from a candle used in a pot session.
No one was initially reported injured in the fire, even as the Bureau of Fire Protection is still determining the extent of damage to property.
A separate report on Bombo Radyo said the fire was put out only at 2 a.m. Saturday.
On the other hand, authorities are searching for two children who were reported trapped in their house.
As of Saturday morning, the affected families were brought to schools and gyms in the area. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
