Holy Week bus riders to Leyte, Samar to get P200 discount
Filipinos taking the bus this Holy Week to two provinces hit hard by super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) may avail of a P200 discount in their fares, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board said Tuesday.
The LTFRB said the discount applies to buses with routes to Samar and Leyte, and will be effective from Holy Wednesday to Easter Monday.
A post on the Facebook account of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority indicated the fare to Samar and Leyte is "roughly" P1,000, noting the P200 discount is "roughly 20% off the regular fare."
MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said the P200 fare discount stemmed from his request to LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez.
Tolentino said the P200 discount is "a big help to all passengers going to and from Leyte and Eastern Samar, particularly during this time of their recovery."
Meanwhile, the LTFRB said commuters heading to the provinces may call the LTFRB's 24/7 hotline at 4592129. — Joel Locsin/RSJ/TJD, GMA News
