Boy in Cebu mall accident to undergo surgery

A six-year-old boy who accidentally fell from the upper ground to the ground-floor of SM City-Cebu Tuesday night was scheduled for surgery Friday at the Cebu Doctors' Hospital, three days after accident.

Police Insp. Vincent Zozobrado of the Mabolo Police Station said the boy was running when he bumped into a glass railing at the mall, according to a report on GMA News' "24-Oras."

Also, Zozobrado said the fall broke the boy's jawbone and caused bruises in his face.

Citing the mall management's statement given to media, the TV report said the boy was accompanied to the hospital by a company nurse and members of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation.

The surgery will cost about P100,000 to P150,000 due to fractures, the report quoted the boy's father as saying.

The boy was with his mother shortly before the incident, the report added. — Iris Banua /LBG, GMA News
