2 dead, 5 hurt as car, bus collide in Ilocos Sur

At least two people were reported killed while five were injured after a car and a bus figured in a collision in Ilocos Sur province, a radio report said Thursday night.

The collision occurred at Barangay Paing in Bantay town in Ilocos Sur, Bombo Radyo reported.

The report identified the fatalities as Marissa Macahilas, wife of the driver of the car; and barangay kagawad Edgar Escobar of Barangay Laslasong Norte in Sta. Maria town.

Macahilas' husband was rushed to the Metro Vigan Cooperative Hospital in Bantay for treatment. Also injured were Jocelyn Escobar Ursua and sister Mary Jane.

Also hurt were Jose Ursua and sons James and Roel.

Police took into custody Mark Anthony Yamson, driver of the Partas bus that was heading for Manila when it figured in the accident.
