3 Koreans stabbed dead in Cebu; business dispute eyed as motive

(Updated 8:55 a.m.) A business dispute is being eyed as the motive behind the fatal stabbing of three Koreans inside a restaurant in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu province Thursday evening.

The suspect faces charges of parricide and multiple murder for the killings, according to a report by GMA Cebu on "Unang Balita" early Friday.

Found dead inside the restaurant in Barangay Maribago in Lapu-Lapu City shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday were Young Mi An, Ho An, and Kim Soonok.

Chief Inspector Conrado Manatad, Lapu-Lapu City Station 2 chief, said Ho An and Kim Soonok's bodies were found outside the restroom while that of Young Mi An was found near the kitchen.

Young Mi An's husband was found at an upper floor, with slashes on his wrist. The three fatalities bore stab wounds.

The "Unang Balita" report said the restaurant's security guard heard the sounds of arguing and breaking of items before the bodies were discovered.

A separate report on dzBB radio early Friday said a business dispute is being considered as a possible motive.

In the meantime, Young Mi An's husband may be subjected to liquor and drug tests once he recovers. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
