Fisherman hacked, beheaded after drinking spree in Cebu

A drinking spree on Monday night proved to be the last for a fisherman who was hacked and beheaded by two brothers in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu province.

The headless body of Florencio Lobo, 54, was discovered by his 50-year-old wife Apolinaria, according to a report on GMA Cebu.

Monday's incident occurred in Sitio Kalubihan in Barangay Marigondon in Lapu-Lapu City.

Apolinaria said she could not recall any grudge between her husband and suspects Russel Colocado, 40; and Junjun Nadela, 34. The two are reportedly stepbrothers.

She said Colocado suddenly attacked her husband with a big knife, and threatened to kill her when she tried to stop him.

Mrs. Lobo ran away from the scene and sought help from police. But when she returned to the site, she saw her husband's headless body.

Before the grisly crime, Barangay Marigondon tanod Frederick Nuñez said he saw the victim and his suspected assailants having a drinking spree near a store.

Nuñez said the suspects even invited him to have a drink.

On the other hand, Nadela's relative denied Junjun's involvement in the crime, saying the suspected assailant was asleep when the attack occurred.

But the relative recalled hearing a commotion, with Florencio crying for help. The suspects have remained at large. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
