Tourist missing after CDO white-water mishap


A female tourist has gone missing after an inflatable raft she and three companions were using to white-water raft along the Cagayan de Oro River capsized Friday, a Mindanao news site MindaNews reported. Vener Monsanto, head of the Cagayan de Oro Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), said the missing tourist's companions were rescued by their rafting guides from Kagay Journey-White Rafting and Kayaking, which runs the rafting tour. According to Kagay owner Chisum Factura, 20 of their guides were still searching the Cagayan de Oro River Friday night. Meanwhile, Mayor Oscar Moreno ordered the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) to help in the search and rescue efforts. “We are committing all our resources in this effort and we hope the missing guest will be found safe and sound,” Moreno said. — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
