NDRRMC: Bukidnon town in state of calamity due to floods, landslides


A town in Bukidnon province was declared under a state of calamity in the wake of floods and landslides since early June, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
 
The NDRRMC's Thursday night report said landslides and floods had occurred in Kibawe town due to continuous rain from June 1 to 10.
 
It said the Kibawe town council issued Resolution 83 dated June 23, declaring the town under a state of calamity.
 
While no casualties were initially reported, the NDRRMC said 762 families or 4,071 people in 13 barangays had been affected.
 
It said the affected areas included Sitio Kibangis in Barangay Panimula, and Barangays Sanipon, Kiwasa, Sampaguita, Magsaysay, Kiorao, Marapangi, Panimula, Talahiron, Mascarinas, Tumaras, Natulongan, and Balintawak.
 
Three houses were destroyed while three more were damaged.
 
Damage to agriculture was estimated at P1,093,115, while damage to infrastructure was estimated at P1,247,000. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
