Deranged man burns down parents’ house in Bicol

A deranged man burned down his parents' house after running amuck in Milaor town in Camarines Sur province in Bicol last Wednesday.

Police had to shoot Arturo Verdadero in the knee to subdue him after he went on a rampage in Barangay Mayawpawan, GMA Bicol's Avril Daja reported Friday.

The report quoted police as saying they could not risk Verdadero harming other people because he was armed with a bladed weapon.

"Pinapasuko namin, ayaw sumuko. Nilulusob pa kami. Barilin na raw siya dahil kung hindi, kami raw ang madidisgrasya," said Milaor deputy police head Inspector Arthur Matos.

Verdadero had been a headache even to his own family, the report said.

It added he could be turned over to a mental hospital once he recovers. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
