NDRRMC: Tornado hurts 1 in Pangasinan, another destroys houses in Maguindanao

One person was injured after a tornado hit a barangay in Pangasinan province Monday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Wednesday.

The NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 5 p.m. Monday in Barangay Barraca in Villasis town in Pangasinan province.

It said one Jomer Guzman was hurt after his house was hit by a fallen mango tree struck by the tornado.

Down south in Mindanao, another tornado destroyed at least three houses in a town in Maguindanao last Monday.

In its report, the NDRRMC said the tornado hit Barangay Kigan in South Upi town in Maguindanao at 11 a.m. last Monday.

The tornado left three houses destroyed and seven damaged, and damaged three classrooms at Kigan Elementary School and two hectares of corn farm.

However, there was no evacuation of residents.

The Office of Civil Defense provided food and relief items to the victims. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
