Samar town police chief gunned down in Tacloban City

A police chief of a town in Western Samar province was gunned down in Tacloban City shortly after midnight Monday.

 

Police are tracking down the gunmen who escaped aboard a motorcycle after fatally shooting Senior Inspector Lucino Lopido, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported.

 

Lopido was head of the police in Paranas town in Western Samar.

 

Sketchy initial reports showed Lopido was gunned down in front of a videoke bar at Gomez Street in Tacloban City.

 

Investigators are verifying information he was drinking with some friends when the gunman approached him and opened fire.
