Iloilo student posts classmates’ nude photos online

A student is now facing criminal charges for allegedly spreading nude photos of five of her classmates online, an Iloilo-based news site reported Monday.

The five victims filed the case with the Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office last July 31, according to a report on The Daily Guardian.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) women's desk head PO3 Jessica Gerardo said the suspect faces charges for violating the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.

Gerardo didn't name the suspect but described her as around 20 years old. She said the suspect remained at large.

“We have already identified the suspect but we still cannot reveal her identity to protect her as she is still a student. The complainant said they still cannot contact her as of the moment,” the officer said.

However, Gerardo said the suspect could post bail if the case was elevated to the court.

According to the complainants, their classmate convinced them last March to be photographed naked, with the photos to be published in an international magazine based in Canada.

They said they were promised P500,000 for this, and were assured their faces will not appear in the magazine.

Also, the suspect reportedly offered them an extra P50,000 to P200,000 if they perform sexual acts before the camera. But she reneged on her promise to pay them in April.

Worse, the photos became public after one of the complainants supposedly refused to accommodate the suspect's request.

The scandal eventually broke out after sexually suggestive photos of a woman wearing the uniform of a prominent high school in Iloilo spread online. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
