Authorities battle bush fires in Camarines Sur
Authorities have been trying to put out a forest fire that hit a town in Camarines Sur province in Bicol on Friday.
The fire at Calabanga town in Camarines Sur reportedly started as early as Friday noon, according to a report on "24 Oras" on Saturday.
Initial reports indicate the fire may have affected some 30 hectares.
While the fire was far from any residential area, local residents fear it might threaten their source of water.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, a separate report on Bombo Radyo said a fire has affected a part of Mount Isarog in Calabanga town.
The report said fire trucks could not enter the area, and it would take firefighters three hours to get there on foot.
Bush fires also hit Albay province this week.
As of Saturday, Albay Governor Jose Salceda said the Philippine Air Force had performed 21 sorties covering 157 bucket drops, two medical missions and six aerial reconnaissance flights using two Huey and one Sokol chopper. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
