Bus runs over, kills tricycle driver in Pangasinan

Monico Gondayao succumbed to extensive injuries in the accident at Barangay San Vicente in Alaminos, according to a report on GMA Dagupan.

 

The report quoted police as saying the tricycle and mini-bus were heading in different directions when they collided.

 

"Yung direction ng tricycle is papunta ng Sual, tapos yung mini-bus ay papunta naman ng Bolinao. Yung tricycle po ang nag-head-on collision siya sa mini-bus. Nakaladkad po yun at yung tao ay napailalim siya sa gulong ng mini-bus na yun," investigator PO3 Gerald Mamanta said.

 

Initial police findings showed the tricycle ventured into the bus' lane.

 

None of the passengers of the bus, numbering about 20, was injured. Bus driver Ernesto Oxciano surrendered to police.

 

"Aarangkada lang po ako, kasasampa ko lang sa may kuwan eh nung nakita kong parating siya, biglang inagaw yung linya ko, yun na," Oxciano said.

 

But police also noted Oxciano failed to show them his driver's license, which Lingayen police reportedly seized earlier for violating loading and unloading zones. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
