Forest fire hits Lignon Hills in Albay

A forest fire of undetermined origin hit a part of the Lignon Hills nature park in Legazpi City in Albay province on Thursday.

 

The fire spread before the caretakers keeping watch over the area could notice it, GMA Bicol's Maila Aycocho reported.

 

However, the caretakers were quoted in the report as saying they noticed smoke at the lower part of the hill as early as Wednesday.
 

Citing information from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the report said the fire affected nearly one hectare of the mountain.

 

Firefighters had a hard time getting up the hill, but residents in the area helped them fight the blaze.
