Suspect in 11-year-old's slay in Candaba nabbed after attending victim’s wake

The suspect in the killing of eighth grader Rochelle Ingal in Candaba, Pampanga has been arrested, a report from GMA's “Quick Respone Team” program said Wednesday.

The suspect was arrested by authorities after he attended the wake of the victim. He is currently detained in the Candaba municipal police station.

According to the suspect Jovany Endrino, he committed the crime due to his anger towards the victim's father. Endrino happens to be the uncle of the victim.

He said he mistook the victim for her father when he saw her.

“Nakahawak siya sa dibdib ko, bumitaw siya sa akin. Tinigilan ko na [suntukin], doon na ako nabulaga na bata 'yung nakahiga [at] hindi siya,” Endrino said.

The body of the victim was found dumped in a vacant lot in Barangay Barit on Friday. —Andrei Medina/NB, GMA News
