Family, friends bury Bulacan rape-slay victim
The remains of Anria Espiritu, who was found with multiple stab wounds on August 14 and is believed to have been raped, were buried on Saturday.
According to a report on GMA's “24 Oras” aired Saturday evening, Espiritu's family, friends and some human rights groups attended the burial to bid her farewell.
Some of the groups have clamored for the return of the death penalty, the report said.
Present among the attendees was the victim's long-time boyfriend. They were supposed to marry this January.
“Lahat gagawin ko magkaroon ka lang ng hustisya,” he said.
Meanwhile, Espiritu's mother Gloria thanked the attendees for the overwhelming support the family has received.
“Bilang isang ina, napakasakit ang mawalan ng isang anak pero sa pagkakataong ito nakita ko yung pagsuporta ng maraming tao. Nadama ko ang inyong pagmamahal [para kay Anria],” she said.
Three suspects have so far been arrested following the victim's murder including a jeepney driver who attended her wake.
