Flood fears prompt preventive evacuation in parts of Davao City

Moderate to heavy rain prompted preventive evacuation in parts of downtown Davao City late Monday afternoon.

The Davao City government said on its Twitter account that as of 5:42 p.m., moderate to heavy rain fell over the city's downtown area, and in Calinan and Guianga areas.

It said the heavy rain could "trigger the overflow of Balusong River."

"Preventive evacuation is being conducted in Matina Pangi as river water level is starting to reach critical level," it said.

PAGASA issued a 6:30 p.m. rainfall advisory indicating light to moderate to occasional heavy rain over parts of Mindanao, including Davao City. — Joel locsin/JDS, GMA News
