NDRRMC: 1 missing in wake of Mindanao flash floods

At least one person was reported missing after being carried away by the strong current of a spillway in Bukidnon following heavy rain in past days, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.

The NDRRMC's Friday update said Nelson Demaclid, 40, of Barangay Gango Libona in Bukidnon was carried by the strong current of an overflowing spillway in Gango Libona.

It said the death toll from the heavy rain since Aug. 30 over Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon remained at three as of Friday.

The NDRRMC also said the number of people affected by the floods and landslides brought by the heavy rain rose to 8,435 families in nine barangays of Kabacan, Cotabato.

Of these, 162 families are staying in two evacuation centers. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
