3 drown in flood, 1 killed by lightning in Cebu – NDRRMC
Three high school students drowned after a flood caused by heavy rain hit a spillway they were crossing in Argao town in Cebu Monday afternoon.
All the fatalities were students of the Calagasan National High School, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday evening.
In its report, the NDRRMC identified the three as Richel Ann Pasaje, 15; Caroline Marson, 15; and Earl Kyle Sardido, 13.
Lightning kills 15-year-old in Cebu
The NDRRMC report also noted that lightning struck and killed a 15-year-old boy near his house in Cebu City Monday afternoon.
William Gabijan was taking shelter from the rain under a coconut tree near his home in Barangay Guadalupe when lightning hit him and the tree, GMA Cebu's Gregy Magdadaro reported.
Gabijan was rushed to a nearby hospital but doctors failed to save him. He sustained bruises on his feet and other parts of the body.
