Walang Pasok: Classes suspended in Cebu, Ormoc, Bohol due to heavy rain

(Updated 3:05 p.m.) Classes were suspended in Cebu province and some parts of the Visayas Thursday due to heavy rain from the trough or extension of Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong).

In Cebu, Governor Hilario Davide III declared no classes in all levels for Thursday due to heavy rain, the Cebu provincial government said on its Facebook page.

Davide also urged offices to declare no work considering the weather situation now, it added.

State-run Philippine Information Agency said the Cebu provincial government also declared no work in non-frontline offices at the provincial capitol.

But work will go on in critical offices including the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and social welfare, and some engineering staff.

Classes in the elementary level in Naval town in Biliran province are also suspended.

PAGASA issued a yellow rainfall warning at 6 a.m. for the Bohol and Cebu provinces, saying flooding is possible in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.

It also issued an orange rainfall warning for Negros Oriental and Biliran at 7 a.m., warning of flooding and landslides as well.

Similarly, PAGASA issued an orange rainfall warning for Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Capiz, Antique, Aklan and Guimaras.  — Joel Locsin/LBG/KG, GMA News
