Holiday cheer comes to Cebu 3 months early with Christmas village

It's still three months before Christmas, but holiday cheer has come to a town in Cebu via a miniature Christmas village in one of the houses there.

The Christmas village at the house of the Abella family in Minglanilla features tiny hotels, churches and miniature people and animals, GMA Cebu's Chona Carreon reported.

At the center is a tiny lively carnival.

"Noon, may nagsabi na kung saan pwedeng maka-ride dahil pagtingin sa TV para siyang totoo so parang bumabalik tayo sa pagkabata dahil sa America meron talagang carnivals," said Kelvin Paul Unabia.

A second Christmas village is set up at the sala, the report said.

The Christmas village has become a tradition of the Abella family for 20 years. It started with a small set at the table, but has grown through the years as more pieces are added yearly.

It takes more than a week to assemble the Christmas village.

"We have all those characters na maliliit na tao para mapupuno na siya," said Unabia.

"It’s a passion to do something nice at para masiyahan ang mga tao especially this season," added Celso Restauro. "Dito sa bahay when it comes to September nagsisimula na ang Christmas."

Other attractions at the house include a musical Santa Claus and a giant Christmas tree. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
