Octogenarian killed, 100 houses destroyed in Zamboanga City fire

An 80-year-old man was killed while some 100 houses were destroyed in a fire that razed a residential area in Zamboanga City Sunday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection is investigating whether the fire stemmed from a gas stove or an unattended appliance, radio dzBB reported Monday.

Some 1,000 residents who lost their homes in the fire were brought to the local barangay hall.

A separate report on Bombo Radyo said the fire started  at 2:15 p.m. at Lacaste Ville in Pasonanca. — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
