1-year-old boy hit, killed by train in CamSur
A one-year-old boy was killed after being sideswiped by a passenger train in Libmanan town in Camarines Sur province in Bicol early Monday.
The boy, identified as Joshua Diaz, died from severe head injuries after being hit by the train in Barangay Bagadion, GMA Bicol's Kaye Botastas reported.
Investigation showed the boy was playing in front of his house when the train bound for Sipocot hit him.
"Bumili po ako ng posporo. Tapos hinanap ko po yung isa kong kapatid. Nakita ko na lang po dyan nakahiga na," his sister Gelma Diaz said.
Libmanan police investigator Superintendent Jefferson Araojo said their probe also showed the boy's mother was gathering food while his father went to a nearby well to get water.
Police also said their findings showed the train was going slowly but could not immediately stop.
In the meantime, the boy's mother Emma asked the Philippine National Railways to help shoulder the expenses for the victim's burial. The PNR has yet to comment on the incident.
"Tulungan naman nila kami kasi walang wala kaming pampalibing sa bata," she said. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
