Oct. 15 declared a special non-working holiday in Bohol to commemorate 2013 quake
Next Wednesday, October 15, will be a special non-working day in Bohol province to commemorate the first anniversary of a magnitude-7.2 quake that devastated the province last year.
This was contained in Proclamation 887, according to a post by state-run Philippine Information Agency for Central Visayas.
"Oct. 15 is a special non-Working Holiday in Bohol to commemorate the first anniversary of the earthquake. It's prayer and thanksgiving per Proclamation 887," the PIA said.
Last year's quake devastated parts of Bohol, heavily damaging historic churches there.
At least 222 people were reported killed, while 976 were injured and eight reported missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
The NDRRMC also said the quake affected 671,103 families or 3,221,248 people in 1,527 barangays in 60 towns in six cities in six provinces of Western and Central Visayas. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
