Even with apartment-type setup, La Union cemetery getting crowded
Even with an almost apartment-type setup, a public cemetery at a town in La Union province is getting crowded, with tombs stacked on top of another.
The cemetery located in Barangay Taberna in Bauang town no longer allows new "tenants," GMA Dagupan reported.
"Kung meron kang reserba, pwede ka rito. Pero kung wala, dun ka sa Santiago. Pero bawal ang bagbag o patong dito," said caretaker Mang Eugenio, who had worked at the cemetery for 23 years.
Even the memorial cemetery has limited space, though the new Bauang South Public Cemetery in Barangay Santiago is open to the public.
Filipinos are expected to pay their respects to their dearly departed in late October or on Nov. 1 and 2, All Saints' and All SOuls' Days respectively. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
