Davao City Mayor Duterte eyes thermal scanner vs Ebola
Davao City is considering acquiring a thermal scanner to help prevent the entry and spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) there.
City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte indicated this during a consultative conference on EVD in the city on Tuesday, GMA Davao reported Wednesday.
"I offered to buy the thermal scanner, sabi nila P1 million plus," Duterte said.
He said he may use funds from peace and order programs to acquire the equipment, adding he will leave it to doctors to determine what to purchase.
"Sinabihan ko ang duktor na sila naman ang nakakaalam, magbibigay lang ako ng assistance, monetary. Bilhin ninyo ang mga kakailanganin ninyo, just to ensure... Aanhin natin ang pera kung mamamatay tayo," he said.
Duterte also said it is important to educate the public about EVD, so they would know how to deal with it.
